Casino operators in Macau are ramping up efforts to capture a larger share of the gaming market. According to a report from investment bank UBS, companies are implementing various strategies to enhance productivity. These include expanding sales departments, renovating casino floors, updating restaurant menus, and improving loyalty programs.
A recent UBS report following meetings with operators in Macau last week highlights Galaxy as a standout performer among its competitors. The company has effectively leveraged its performance venue and increased its marketing staff. "Galaxy's initiatives appear to be the most effective at this time," the report states.
MGM, on the other hand, has faced challenges due to seasonal fluctuations in August. However, the operator is working to increase the number of available hotel rooms, including suites.
Wynn and Melco are both focusing on enhancing their loyalty programs, aiming to provide more personalized services to VIP clients.
Meanwhile, two other operators, SJM and Sands, are concentrating on the renovation and expansion of their gaming properties, specifically at Grand Lisboa Palace and The Londoner, respectively.
Operators noted that demand for gambling remains robust, with a growing customer base driven by the addition of a younger audience. This trend indicates a healthy and evolving market.
According to the UBS report, operators are increasingly utilizing non-gaming events to attract visitors. Events ranging from concerts to cultural festivals have proven effective in broadening their audience and encouraging guests to visit the casinos more frequently.
In the meantime, Macau is set to invest $130 million in a new gaming equipment manufacturing facility.
