A lucky winner from California has hit a staggering Powerball jackpot of $207 million (₽16.39 billion). Lottery officials also announced that two other participants in the drawing each won $2 million (₽158.26 million).
This jackpot was the first to be awarded in a month, breaking a streak of unsuccessful draws. According to organizers, the winning ticket, which matched five white balls and the red Powerball, was purchased at a 7-Eleven store. The winning numbers were 1, 29, 37, 56, 68, and Powerball 13.
The identity of the new jackpot winner has not yet been revealed. Lottery representatives stated that the participant has a full year to claim their prize, in accordance with the rules.
In addition to the jackpot, residents from Florida and New Hampshire correctly guessed all five white balls and activated the Power Play option, which doubles the prize amount. As a result, each of them received $2 million (₽158.26 million). Another 14 lottery players matched four white balls and the Powerball. Nine of them will receive $50,000 (₽3.96 million), while five will take home $100,000 (₽7.91 million) thanks to the Power Play option.
Immediately following the win, the jackpot was reset to $20 million (₽1.58 billion), with a cash payout of $9 million (₽712.17 million).
The previous jackpot drawing took place in April, when a ticket from Kentucky won its holder $167 million (₽13.22 billion). In April 2024, Cheng Sefan won $1.3 billion (₽102.87 billion) and noted that he no longer feels financial pressure and can fully focus on his health.
