The city planning board has unanimously approved a major renovation project for the iconic Hampton Beach Casino in New Hampshire. This decision paves the way for the transformation of one of the region's key gaming attractions while preserving its primary function as a hub for entertainment.
The historic building on Ocean Boulevard will undergo a complete reconstruction. Owner Sal Lupoli emphasizes that the new casino will maintain its core focus on gaming while incorporating modern infrastructure for entertainment. He stated, "The new structure will closely resemble what was there before. We will take part of the interior from the old casino and incorporate it into the new establishment."
A key feature of the renovation will be the creation of a new gaming hall. Plans also include a dedicated space for a charitable casino. The project envisions a significant expansion of the gaming area, with the main hall's capacity expected to increase from 2,200 to 3,500 seats. This will allow the casino to accommodate more visitors and host larger events. In addition to gaming, the complex will feature a 208-room hotel, 99 residential apartments, a spa, restaurants, and retail spaces.
Demolition of the current casino building is scheduled for after the summer season of 2026, with the completion of the gaming complex expected by 2030. The new Hampton Beach Casino is designed to operate continuously for the next 100 years.
Notably, casinos in New Hampshire have been granted the right to operate an unlimited number of Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs).
