A parrot breeder from Scotland has won over £400,000 in the People’s Postcode Lottery
Dragunis received a significant portion of the total jackpot of £1 million (around 116.9 million rubles) after his postcode, G75 0DH, was drawn as a winner. The remaining prize money was distributed among residents of areas with broader postcode ranges, specifically G75 0.
He mentioned that part of his winnings will go towards purchasing a new budgerigar for outcrossing, a breeding method that enhances the genetic diversity of offspring. Dragunis has been breeding decorative birds for many years and has won awards at the Scottish Budgerigar Society's exhibitions twice. "I used to breed budgies, but family commitments got in the way. I returned to it about five years ago, and now I have around 120 birds," he said.
Jerry shared the news of his win with his wife, Christine. Together, they plan to allocate some of the funds to support their son, daughter, and four grandchildren. "It would be great to help the family. After all, loved ones come first. The most important thing is that they are well and healthy," Dragunis added.
The People’s Postcode Lottery is a unique lottery where ticket numbers correspond to postcodes. Draws take place daily, but the million-pound prize is only available on Saturdays. One-third of the ticket price goes to charity.
Jerry's win also resulted in a £50,000 (about 5.84 million rubles) donation to the local charity Achieve More Scotland. This funding from the Postcode Community Trust will support programs aimed at improving the health of young people.
