Marius Preda, a 28-year-old pizza delivery driver from Tamworth, England, has won a staggering £500,000 (approximately 58.7 million rubles) in the February draw of Best of the Best (BOTB). Despite this life-changing sum, Preda has decided to continue working at Papa John’s.
Earning around £12 (1,409 rubles) an hour, Preda makes about £480 (56,365 rubles) a week, totaling an annual income of £24,960 (2.93 million rubles). This means his yearly salary is 200 times less than the prize he just won.
Commenting on his win, Preda expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m over the moon and full of emotions. I’ll need some time to think about it, but we’d like to buy a new house and go on holiday. Winning this amount changes everything.”
Preda, who moved to the UK from Romania in 2019, has a wife and a child. When discussing his holiday plans, he hinted at a trip back to his homeland.
BOTB host Christian Williams congratulated Preda, stating, “Huge congratulations to Marius on winning this incredible cash prize in our biggest draw yet. We are always looking for new ways to give people the chance to win fantastic prizes, and it was amazing to surprise Marius in the way we did. This is probably the best tip a delivery driver has ever received.”
Best of the Best is a UK-based online platform that regularly holds draws for cash and other valuable prizes, including cars and motorcycles. The £500,000 won by Preda marks the largest prize in BOTB's history.
Another representative from the lottery noted, “Marius, who has been a pizza delivery driver for about four years, returned to work the very next day. He plans to use the money to buy a new home for himself and his family.”
