A resident of Leeds has won a £2.5 million house in the Omaze lottery
Milns, who grew up in a modest apartment, expressed his disbelief at winning. "Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would own a multi-million-pound home," he said. "When I got the call from Omaze telling me I had won, I thought a couple of thousand pounds would be very welcome at that moment. It was a huge surprise for me, but even more so for my wife, as she had no idea I had entered. To say she was shocked is an understatement; she was left speechless."
Milns noted that his family is currently renting a home, and just last week, he and his wife were discussing moving to a new place to cut costs. "We have worked hard all our lives and have faced tough times over the years. But after this win, the future has never looked brighter. This house is simply magnificent," he admitted.
The new owner of a luxurious three-story mansion spanning 464.5 square meters in Dorset had three options for the property: move in, rent it out, or sell it. Milns opted for the latter but mentioned that the family plans to take a big vacation first, implying a temporary move into their new home.
Omaze is an American company that conducts raffles, including those to raise funds for charitable causes. The lottery was launched in the UK in 2020. To date, the largest prize in Omaze history remains a townhouse in West London worth £5 million (around $6.3 million), which was won by a young nurse named Ocean Bell from Barking.
Chris's wife, Jules, stated that she does not plan to quit her job despite their unexpected windfall. However, Chris intends to retire at some point to focus on playing tennis. He revealed that he broke the news of his win to his boss via email, prompting his boss to call him immediately to ensure he would stay on and complete his current project.
In related news, the winner of the Lotto Powerball has been announced, taking home a staggering $150 million.
