A man from the suburbs of Brisbane became the lucky winner of a $3.7 million AUD (approximately 215.8 million RUB) jackpot in the Saturday Gold Lotto last weekend. Remarkably, less than a year ago, he won $2.8 million AUD (around 163.3 million RUB) in the same lottery.
Anna Hobdell, a spokesperson for The Lott, the operator of Australia’s lotteries, described the player's repeated success as extraordinary. "The odds of winning the first division in Saturday Gold Lotto with a standard game are 1 in 8,145,060. Remarkably, the lucky winner from Forest Lake has managed to beat the odds twice. This just goes to show that anything can happen," she said.
Initially, the man couldn't believe he had won for the second time in a year. "Wow! Thank you so much. I double-checked when I looked at the ticket this morning. I just thought, 'Wow, this is incredible.' Winning twice is magic," he admitted.
He added that his family members were initially skeptical about the news. However, they soon gathered a large group to celebrate the momentous occasion. "Some might wonder why I keep playing. But I decided to test my luck one more time to continue helping my family. We are all so shocked," he noted.
The majority of his previous winnings went towards supporting his relatives. However, he plans to use his new jackpot for charity, as well as to purchase real estate and travel around the world.
As for work, the winner has decided not to quit his job. According to him, he is employed in the medical field and enjoys helping people.
Meanwhile, two participants in the Powerball lottery in the United States also won $1 million each.
