Penn Entertainment, a prominent operator of casinos and racetracks, has signed an agreement with autonomous security and emergency communication systems developer Knightscope. As part of the deal, 43 Penn Entertainment locations will be equipped with Knightscope's K5 autonomous security robots.
Previously, Knightscope provided its first robot to Penn Entertainment's M Resort in Nevada. Similar technologies were later deployed at the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and the Hollywood Casino in Aurora, Illinois, as part of a preliminary agreement. With the signing of this full contract, an additional 43 casinos and racetracks under the Penn Entertainment umbrella will now be able to utilize these robots to enhance security measures.
William Santana Li, Chairman and CEO of Knightscope, commented on the new agreement, stating, "Penn Entertainment's commitment to ensuring the safety and quality of service for its guests is exceptional. We are thrilled to provide Knightscope technology to their portfolio of gaming establishments, helping to protect guests arriving and departing from all of the company's locations on a daily basis."
The K5 Knightscope Autonomous Security Robot is designed to operate in various conditions, including low-light environments. It is equipped with four cameras and a set of 16 microphones, as well as a license plate recognition system to enforce stringent security measures on casino premises.
The K5 can be used for patrolling areas and is capable of detecting human presence during restricted access hours using thermal imaging cameras. Additionally, the robots feature a two-way communication system to enhance the safety of both visitors and staff. These security robots are not only utilized in casinos but also in shopping centers, hospitals, and warehouses.
Meanwhile, in Japan, plans for the implementation of the MGM Osaka casino resort project have been approved.
