Casino players tend to have higher incomes and better credit scores compared to those who do not gamble
The report categorizes "high-stakes" clients as those who spend at least $500 (approximately ₽42,473) per month. TransUnion notes that this group predominantly consists of individuals with high incomes and strong credit scores.
These findings align with previous research. Based on the collected data, Declan Rains, head of TransUnion's gaming sector, concluded: "As we have discovered in the past, most customers can afford to place bets. In fact, a significant increase in income has been a primary factor correlating with whether people gamble in casinos, regardless of their earnings. This indicates that most visitors only wager amounts they can afford to lose."
Additionally, TransUnion reported that both online and brick-and-mortar casino clients enjoy a financial advantage over non-bettors, with 20% of players indicating an increase in their income over the past three months.
However, signs of poor financial management were observed among casino clients, particularly among those spending large sums.
TransUnion suggests that American operators should brace for increased media scrutiny regarding the potential social drawbacks of widespread gambling. This could lead to stricter regulatory requirements in the UK and Australia.
Rains added, "Operators fully understand the need to balance commercial effectiveness with player protection. The next crucial step will be to demonstrate to regulators proactive measures for consumer safety. This can be achieved by leveraging extensive operator data alongside customer information. Such actions will help identify high-risk individuals without creating unnecessary complications for the majority of consumers who gamble responsibly."
It is worth noting that lawmakers are urging operators in Macau to safeguard the welfare of their employees.
