Euro Games Technology (EGT) has joined the list of providers opting out of ICE London 2022. The Bulgarian online gaming developer issued a statement announcing the cancellation of its previously agreed exhibition plans due to "health risks" for its employees.
Despite the withdrawal of several major providers, event organizer Clarion Gaming remains hopeful for the overall success of the exhibition. In less than two weeks, 15 new exhibitors have registered, and approximately 74% of industry professionals who pre-registered for the event have confirmed their attendance.
In its statement, EGT noted, "The spread of the Omicron variant continues to pose a significant challenge in the UK and Europe, severely limiting EGT's participation in the event." The company also pointed out, "Additionally, the new dates for the event, approved by the organizers, are not very convenient. They coincide with the start of the Catholic Easter holiday period, further restricting the number of participating companies and visitors."
Nadia Popova, EGT's Chief Revenue Officer and Vice President of Sales and Marketing, commented, "ICE London is the leading exhibition in our industry and one of the most important events for EGT as a European company. We value our partnership with the organizers and look forward to participating in the London exhibition next year. We firmly believe that ICE will soon again be a celebration of technological achievements in the gaming industry."
Is it reasonable to withdraw from ICE 2022?
Clarion Gaming, the event organizer, decided to postpone ICE London from February to April due to concerns over the spread of the new Covid-19 variant. As a result, many companies, including Merkur Gaming, Novomatic, Zitro, and TCS John Huxley, have opted out for various reasons.
Most of those not exhibiting are representatives from the land-based segment. However, there will be a significantly larger presence of companies operating in the iGaming sector at the exhibition.
