Galaxy Entertainment Group has emerged as the market leader in the premium segment in Macau as of July 2025. Sands China has secured the second position, bolstered by a surge in visitors for Sandy Lam's concert and the introduction of a progressive jackpot in baccarat.
According to analysts George Choi and Timothy Chau from Citigroup, Galaxy has captured a 35% share of the premium market. A key factor in this success was the North Pavilion at Galaxy Macau, which hosted 12 of the 35 high-stakes players. One of these players placed a bet of HK$1 million (approximately ₽10 million).
Sands China holds a 25% market share. The concert at the Venetian Arena further piqued interest in the gaming halls. Additionally, the implementation of the progressive jackpot, now available at most baccarat tables, has contributed to revenue growth. The potential payout can exceed HK$5 million (around ₽50 million), with a minimum bet of HK$500 (about ₽5,000) in regular areas and HK$2,000 (approximately ₽20,000) in premium zones. To win the jackpot, a player must achieve a score of seven against the banker's six.
The total volume of premium bets in July reached HK$16 million (around ₽160 million), marking a 32% increase compared to the previous year. The number of players rose by 18%, and the average bet size increased by 11%, from HK$21,193 (approximately ₽211,930) to HK$23,536 (around ₽235,360). Analysts note that these results were achieved despite an approaching typhoon, indicating strong demand resilience.
Among the high rollers were two players who each placed bets of HK$500,000 (approximately ₽5 million)—one at Galaxy Macau and the other at StarWorld’s Horizon. The total number of such casino visitors increased to 35, up from 23 in July 2024.
The average minimum buy-in at baccarat tables in Macau in July was HK$2,110 (around ₽21,100), unchanged from the previous year. Meanwhile, Grand Lisboa Palace has completed the installation of smart gaming tables across all its halls.
Notably, the Macau government plans to return gaming tables to operators following the closure of satellite casinos.
