Genting New York LLC has unveiled plans to build the largest casino resort in the state of New York
The operator of Resorts World New York City has already obtained all necessary land use permits and is poised to begin construction on the day the license is issued. The complex is slated to open in July 2026. Genting is competing for one of three available licenses and, alongside MGM Resorts, is proposing an expansion of an existing facility rather than a new casino.
The project is estimated to cost $5.5 billion and aims to transform Resorts World New York City into a resort spanning 520,000 square feet. It will feature 6,000 slot machines, 800 gaming tables, a 2,000-room hotel, and a 7,000-seat arena.
Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East, emphasized that the company has been a part of the Queens community for nearly 15 years and has always aimed to be a good neighbor. He stated, "Since acquiring the rights to operate the Aqueduct site in 2010, we have created 1,000 stable union jobs, invested millions of dollars in the area, and strengthened ties with the local community. Today's project is a promise that we are ready to do much more."
Additionally, Genting announced the formation of a joint venture with Cirrus Workforce Housing to finance the construction of up to 50,000 housing units for workers throughout the city. The company will also allocate $50 million to launch the new Resorts World Innovation Campus.
It is worth noting that two contenders for the casino licenses in New York have enhanced their proposals amid growing competition.
