Incode Technologies' age verification solution for casino customers has received a positive assessment from the German Commission for the Protection of Consumer Rights (KJM). This development marks another achievement for the local jurisdiction following Germany's approval of legislation in March 2020 that introduced new requirements for online gambling operators.
The Interstate Treaty on Gambling came into effect last year, mandating operators to verify the identity of users, including their age. Until now, companies lacked the necessary software, but Incode's third-party solution is set to significantly change the landscape in favor of compliance with existing regulations.
The technology works by verifying a customer's age through a comparison of their ID photo with a selfie. When an image is submitted, Incode's ID verification microservice recognizes and classifies the user's card, conducts authenticity tests, and generates a score.
KJM serves as Germany's primary regulatory body responsible for protecting citizens online, including in the realm of gambling. With the positive endorsement from the agency, Incode is now positioned to offer its solution to local operators.
“At Incode, we are building trust in the digital world by simplifying, speeding up, and enhancing the security of identity verification and validation for people around the globe, including in Europe,” said Ricardo Amper, CEO of Incode. He added, “With this solution, Incode Technologies will be able to protect gambling enthusiasts in Germany by reducing harmful gambling practices and improving registration rates for eligible users.”
