Filipino businessman Manuel Villar has announced the upcoming launch of a new resort complex featuring a casino in Manila. In a recent interview with local media, he revealed that the Gold Coast Entertainment City project is nearing completion and is expected to be ready by 2023. Villar stated that nearly $1 billion has been allocated for the entertainment complex, which will be located near Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The real estate mogul disclosed that the casino will cover almost 18,000 square meters and will be managed by a foreign operator. While Villar has not yet revealed details about potential partners for the gaming establishment, he promised that all information regarding the new project—including its name, partners, opening date, and operating hours—will be announced shortly after the project's launch in early 2023.
"I have waited three long years for this moment. Finally, it has arrived, and the Gold Coast Entertainment City will soon be fully operational. The wait is almost over, and I will be able to share more detailed information about it then," he commented.
In addition to the casino, the resort complex will feature hotels, condominiums, a shopping mall, and a theme park. The construction is being handled by Vertex Entertainment and Resort Corp, a subsidiary of the private investment firm Prime Asset Ventures Inc.
The real estate sector has long been at the core of Manuel Villar's business interests, and this year, he was named the second richest Filipino by Forbes. He oversees several companies listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange, two of which are involved in retail. Villar also holds assets in restaurant chains and the media sector.
