A resident of Connecticut has become the lucky winner of $2.2 million (₽181.15 million), but he took his time claiming the prize. Typically, lottery winners rush to the lottery office within days of the drawing, but this case was an exception. The winning Lotto! ticket was sold on June 30, just an hour before the drawing, at Mack’s Wine & Liquor in Manchester. There, the player correctly matched the six winning numbers: 2, 4, 13, 18, 34, and 38. The store received a $10,000 (₽823,400) bonus for selling the ticket, adding to the excitement of the big win.
For several months, the winner's identity remained a mystery, but recently, CT Lottery confirmed that he has come forward to claim his winnings. The man expressed that he feels an incredible sense of joy. The first person he shared the news with was his mother, who is nearly 100 years old.
According to the winner, it was his family's support that helped him believe in his own luck. When choosing his numbers, he based them on the birthdays of his loved ones. This method ultimately led him to millions. He mentioned plans to use his prize for a trip to India, where his relatives live. He also emphasized that he does not intend to stop buying tickets and will continue to test his luck.
The Connecticut Lottery noted that stories like this inspire players across the country and foster a unique atmosphere of trust and hope. Representatives of the organization highlighted that whether participants choose their numbers randomly or follow certain traditions, the chance of winning always remains real.
Additionally, the past few months have been particularly generous for the CT Lottery, with a resident of Greenwich winning the grand prize in the WIN BIG game, and another participant from Manchester securing annual lifetime payments of $25,000 (₽2.12 million).
In a related note, a resident of North Carolina recently won the lottery but initially thought it was a mistake.
