Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea that allows local residents, has announced the launch of a gaming zone exclusively for foreign visitors
"We intend to increase the number of foreign visitors this year. This will help us strengthen our status as a global resort complex and contribute to the development of the national tourism industry," Choi stated.
The opening of the new gaming zone was made possible after receiving approval to amend casino restrictions in September 2024. As part of this project, an investment of $128 million (approximately 12.5 billion rubles) is planned for the construction of a second gaming complex. This expansion will increase the casino's area to 20,260 square meters, with the number of gaming tables rising to 250 and slot machines to 1,610.
In the pilot zone designated for foreigners, betting limits will be raised from the current 100,000 South Korean won (about 6,712 rubles) to 20 million won (approximately 1.34 million rubles). After the full launch of the new complex, the maximum limit will increase to 300 million won (around 20.13 million rubles).
In 2024, Kangwon Land welcomed approximately 24,300 foreign visitors, marking a 5.8% increase compared to the previous year. The company also reported a 33.6% rise in net profit for 2024, reaching 455.38 billion South Korean won (about 30.56 billion rubles).
Meanwhile, Inspire Entertainment Resort has announced the completion date for its new casino in South Korea.
