Earlier, lawmaker Leong Sun Iok and the Macao Federation of Trade Unions expressed their concerns regarding the welfare of professionals working in the gaming industry. As a result, they called on the government to promote corporate social responsibility in protecting employees, urging organizations to be more attentive to their staff.
According to reports from Macao, Leong suggested adapting to electronic trends, providing on-the-job training, hiring more staff, increasing salaries, and offering additional benefits to boost morale and ensure the well-being of all team members. He emphasized that employee loyalty in the gaming sector is a key factor in Macao's economic development in this industry.
Leong also urged the government to enhance oversight of the hiring processes and contract renewals for foreign professionals. This has become particularly important in light of a recent bribery case involving a gaming inspector.
In addition to improving worker welfare, Leong advised the government to engage in discussions with operators. The primary goal of this dialogue should be to expand the use of bonuses and vouchers provided by gaming companies to a broader range of businesses in Macao. It is proposed to include restaurants, retail stores, entertainment venues, and service providers in this initiative. Such a move would stimulate the region's economy and enhance the social responsibility of gaming companies in contributing to the country's development.
Meanwhile, plans are underway in North Korea to open a casino in the country's tallest building.
