Macau's casinos have commented on a proposed bill aimed at a comprehensive overhaul of the gaming industry
In their press releases, the companies praised the provisions of the bill, asserting that its implementation would benefit Macau. The operators also indicated their intention to participate in the upcoming re-tender for licenses, which will be conducted under the new regulations.
MGM China Holdings Ltd expressed its support for the timely release of the document detailing the city's new gaming structure. The statement noted, "The bill outlines comprehensive information on various aspects of general administrative procedures, including a clear roadmap for the upcoming re-tender, which is crucial for maintaining a healthy and sustainable development of the industry."
Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd stated its backing for the initiative to amend Macau's gaming law, emphasizing that "optimizing existing norms and regulations will lay a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the city. This will lead to overall economic growth, stability, and a diversification of offerings in Macau."
Sands China Ltd highlighted that the released document provides "clear recommendations for the necessary qualitative changes that have emerged from feedback from industry representatives and the public." The company also confirmed its commitment to applying for the new tender.
Similar press releases were issued by the remaining three active licensees, all of which underscored their readiness to participate in the bidding process.
It is worth noting that Macau authorities have announced a two-week ban on international air travel.
