Casino operator MGM Resorts International and hotel giant Marriott International have announced the opening of the first W Hotels property on the Las Vegas Strip. This move marks another milestone in the ongoing partnership between the two companies.
The new hotel will be located within the Mandalay Bay resort and casino. According to MGM Resorts, construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with further project details to be revealed soon.
MGM and Marriott first announced their partnership in 2023. This collaboration allows customers of both brands to enjoy additional privileges when visiting MGM's casino complexes and Marriott properties. The opening of the new W Hotels location will expand the total portfolio of the two companies on the Las Vegas Strip to 12 properties, which include iconic venues like Bellagio, ARIA, and The Cosmopolitan.
Steve Zanella, President of MGM Resorts Operations, noted that the partnership has exceeded expectations and showcases the strength of Marriott's portfolio. "W Las Vegas will provide guests with access to a new luxury lifestyle, recognized worldwide for its unique individuality, dynamic programming, and high service culture," Zanella added.
Linny Ober, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Development at Marriott, commented on this new phase of the partnership. "This agreement is a turning point in our collaboration, which continues to enhance hospitality and entertainment offerings for visitors. As a luxury brand rooted in bold design and nightlife, W Hotels is well-positioned to elevate the travel experience in this market," Ober stated.
Meanwhile, a new Caesars resort and casino will soon feature the first Gordon Ramsay restaurant in Virginia.
