The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) has released its report for April 2025, revealing that the total gross revenue from casinos for the month reached 665 million Danish kroner (approximately $8.13 billion), marking an 11.6% increase compared to the same month in 2024. The primary driver of this growth was the iGaming segment, which saw an impressive revenue surge of 21.2%.
Online casinos generated 331 million DKK (around $4.05 billion), accounting for more than half of the industry's total gross revenue. This trend underscores the ongoing shift in player preferences towards digital solutions, with an increasing number of users opting for the convenience of placing bets via smartphones. The share of mobile casinos reached 67.9%, while desktop platforms comprised only 32.1%.
Revenue from land-based establishments remained stable compared to the previous year, totaling 31 million DKK (approximately $378.8 million). This stability indicates resilience in the segment, despite growing competition from the online sector. Revenue from slot machines amounted to 93 million DKK (around $1.14 billion).
Sports betting also demonstrated positive growth, with revenues in this area reaching 207 million DKK (approximately $2.53 billion), reflecting a 6.2% year-on-year increase.
For the first time, the report includes figures for bingo, which generated a debut revenue of 3 million DKK (about $36.66 million). This result may indicate a growing interest in the game among casino users.
Since the beginning of 2025, the total revenue from gambling in Denmark has reached 2.53 billion DKK (approximately $30.96 billion), with 50.3% coming from online casinos. This confirms the long-term trend of digitalization in the country's gambling landscape.
It is worth noting that the Danish gambling regulator has reported sustained growth in the casino market and the potential for further development in the industry.
