Playtech has unveiled a new format for gambling entertainment within its Live Casino concept. The provider has introduced a feature that allows players to place bets on a video slot during a live-streamed gaming session hosted by a dealer. This project, named Live Slots, has launched with the popular Buffalo Blitz slot machine, which Playtech originally released in mid-2016.
Live Slots transforms a standard video slot into a collective interactive experience. According to the developers, this mirrors the way groups of friends or strangers gather around a slot machine in a brick-and-mortar casino to cheer on a lucky player. Unlike traditional setups, Live Slots allows multiple players to place bets simultaneously.
The session begins with players selecting a shared betting limit and the number of spins, after which the reels automatically spin every few seconds. The studio host provides commentary on the action and encourages players to join in. Currently, the feature is available with just one title, Buffalo Blitz, but there are plans to expand the lineup of live slot games in the future.
“Live Slots is truly a groundbreaking concept in the gambling industry, offering online casino customers an engaging style of play while creating cross-selling opportunities for operators,” said Kevin Kilminster, head of innovation for Playtech Live. “The popularity of streaming demonstrates players' demand for interactivity. It’s the kind of experience you can have when playing with others in a physical casino.”
In conjunction with Live Slots, Playtech also introduced a new version of blackjack with live dealers called Quantum Blackjack. A standout feature of this game is the inclusion of a multiplier determined during an additional deal, which can reach up to x10. This means that a win in the main game could yield payouts up to 1,000 times the initial bet.
Kilminster expressed hope that this new version of the card game will achieve the same level of popularity as the previously released Quantum Roulette. He also noted that 2019 was a breakthrough year for Playtech Live, as developers focused on creating engaging gambling experiences that differ from traditional versions.
