Poland's largest land-based casino operator, Casinos Poland, has announced the imminent reopening of its gaming establishments. Reports indicate that eight of the brand's venues across the country will welcome back visitors after a two-month hiatus due to COVID-19 quarantine measures.
On its official website, the operator stated: "In accordance with the current decree from the Polish Council of Ministers and other regulatory bodies, our casinos will be open from February 15 to February 28, 2021."
However, the venues can only reopen if management can ensure their safe operation in compliance with all government and health authority requirements.
Specifically, all gaming establishments will be required to conduct temperature screenings for each visitor, regularly disinfect surfaces that employees and guests come into contact with (such as door handles, slot machines, chips, and coffee tables), and enforce mask-wearing for both players and casino staff. Used masks will be replaced free of charge.
It is noteworthy that the American company Century Casino holds a 66.6% stake in Casinos Poland through its Austrian subsidiary, Century Resorts Management GmbH. Last year, Century reported a significant increase in revenue for the third quarter following its acquisition of four casinos in June.
During the same period, the Polish operations of the American hospitality and gaming giant accounted for 4% of the total adjusted profit.
At the end of last year, Century Casino projected that the company would experience "significant negative impact" in the first half of 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions and the ongoing rise in cases in many countries.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Hungarian politicians have been protesting against the operation of casinos.
