Developers at Pragmatic Play have unveiled their latest three-reel slot, Hot Chilli. This game stands out from traditional machines with its unconventional mechanics and original design.
The game board is set within a Chinese cauldron filled with boiling oil, viewed from a unique top-down perspective. The 3x3 grid is divided into nine fixed paylines.
A key feature of the game is its distinctive visual style for spinning the reels: symbols do not rotate on traditional reels but instead bubble up from the boiling oil in the cauldron, occupying only some of the grid spaces. Some cells remain filled with hot liquid and do not contribute to winning combinations. This display mechanic makes the slot resemble virtual scratch cards.
The symbols feature ingredients commonly used in Chinese cuisine, including pieces of tofu and beef, mushrooms, corn, bacon, shrimp, and chili peppers. The chili acts as a wild symbol and can carry a multiplier ranging from x2 to x5. The food images are reminiscent of icons from Play’n GO's Sizzling Spins slot. When forming winning combinations, the winning symbols are extracted from the cauldron using chopsticks.
"We are thrilled to launch our new slot, Hot Chilli. Its fun gameplay centered around cooking meat with vegetables, innovative approach to spinning the reels, and elegant gameplay make this video slot fantastic," said Yossi Barzeli, Director of Business Development at Pragmatic Play.
The minimum bet in Hot Chilli is 0.01 credits in the online casino's currency, while the maximum is 5 credits. The paytable is located on the left side of the screen, with a maximum payout multiplier of x5000. The game does not feature free spins or bonus rounds.
