A significant milestone was recently reached at Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, Virginia, as the establishment welcomed its one-millionth visitor just six months after opening. The honored guest was Terry Powell, a resident of Norfolk.
As Powell stepped through the doors, she was greeted with a shower of confetti and applause. In addition to the warm welcome, she received $1,000 in slot play, a dinner for four at Admiral’s Steak & Seafood, and four tickets to a live performance by Theresa Caputo.
Roy Corby, the casino's general manager, remarked, "From day one, Rivers Casino Portsmouth has been committed to providing exceptional customer service. Reaching this milestone just six months after opening is a testament to our progress. Congratulations to our millionth guest, Terry, and a heartfelt thank you to the other 999,999 individuals who chose Rivers Casino for their entertainment."
Earlier, Virginia's gaming regulator reported that three casinos in the state collectively earned $45.5 million in May, with Rivers Casino Portsmouth accounting for the largest share at $20.6 million. The other two casinos, the temporary Hard Rock Bristol and Caesars Virginia, generated $12.9 million and $11.9 million, respectively.
The total tax revenue for the state in May amounted to $3.7 million, with one-third allocated to the local regional fund, which will be used to enhance education, transportation, and public safety.
Rivers Casino offers guests nearly 1,500 slot machines and two dozen poker tables. Despite a decline in monthly revenue in May, the gaming venue continues to attract a steady stream of visitors.
Meanwhile, a mother from Texas won a million dollars at Choctaw Casino & Resort.
