Volunteers from Rivers Casino in Portsmouth, Virginia, will participate in the annual citywide cleanup as part of the casino's community engagement program, River Gives. Representatives from the gaming establishment will join other community groups, including the Wilson Ward/Gosport Civic League, to help tidy up the area.
Elvira H.J. Williams, president of the Wilson Ward/Gosport Civic League, expressed her enthusiasm: "We are thrilled that the volunteers from Rivers Casino Portsmouth are working with us as we strive to make our city better. The fact that so many people want to be part of this initiative shows just how united we are as a community, and we encourage others to get involved."
Around 200 local volunteers, including casino staff and General Manager Roy Corby, will take part in the cleanup, which will cover a large area from the Victory Crossing entertainment district to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. After the cleanup, Rivers Casino will treat all volunteers to lunch at the Event Center.
“At Rivers Casino Portsmouth, we believe that a strong and active community benefits us all, and we are committed to supporting efforts that make Portsmouth cleaner and improve the quality of life for our neighbors,” said Roy Corby. It is worth noting that since January, the casino has been assisting several organizations and community initiatives through corporate donations.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth offers visitors over 1,400 unique slot machines, a wide selection of table games, a poker room, and a BetRivers sportsbook. The casino also features an event center, a lounge area, and various dining options.
