Operators of Macau's largest casinos are continuing to modernize their gaming areas by implementing advanced technologies. Sands China and Wynn Macau have fully transitioned to "smart" tables, joining MGM China and Galaxy Entertainment Group. As a result, four out of the six largest local operators have completed the automation process for baccarat.
The new equipment allows for faster gameplay through quick tracking of bets and results. This increases the number of hands dealt per hour, positively impacting overall revenue. Analysts at Citigroup expect that the adoption of these technologies will lead to a 7% increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) by 2025.
Despite the completion of the installation of smart tables, some of them have yet to be put into operation. Industry representatives indicate that the rollout will occur in phases to avoid technical glitches and to ensure a smooth adaptation for staff to the new systems.
At the same time, experts note Wynn's recovery in the premium mass segment. According to a February report from Citigroup, Sands and Galaxy maintain their lead in total betting volume. However, Wynn has managed to regain a significant market share compared to January, primarily due to the return of high-stakes clients whose betting amounts have noticeably increased.
The average bet size for premium players has reached HK$26,224 (approximately $3,340), marking the fourth-highest figure recorded by Citigroup. Additionally, the number of clients placing large bets, with an average size of $210,000 (around $2.64 million), has also risen.
Analysts emphasize that these figures indicate strong demand ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Such levels of activity in the premium segment suggest a recovery in the industry and a stabilization of tourist flows in Macau. The upcoming holidays are expected to yield record casino revenues and serve as a crucial indicator for the market's future development.
It is worth noting that casinos in Macau are actively incorporating smart tables for baccarat gameplay.
