Saratoga Casino Holdings and the Chickasaw Nation have joined forces on an ambitious project with Thor Equities that aims to bring a new casino, hotel, and entertainment venue to Coney Island. The companies are optimistic that this development will transform the local economy, reducing the area’s reliance on summer amusement park visitors.
If approved, the project will see an investment of over $3 billion, funded entirely by private sources rather than taxpayer dollars. It is expected to create 2,500 construction jobs and thousands of permanent positions once completed.
Randy Pierce, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, stated, “The realization of this project will undoubtedly stimulate our economy significantly, as Coney Island becomes a popular year-round tourist destination. Most importantly, it will provide local residents with steady employment throughout the year.”
Bill Lance, Chairman of the Global Gaming Board, added, “We currently have a fantastic partnership with Legends at our flagship WinStar World Casino and Resort. Our investment and involvement in this project have led us to seek to expand these relationships with our strategic partners Thor and Saratoga. We look forward to a successful collaboration that will create a world-class entertainment venue, breathing new life into this iconic New York attraction.”
