The American Gaming Association (AGA) reports record gaming revenues in the United States
Recent AGA data reveals that in the second quarter of 2023, revenue reached a record high of $16.07 billion (nearly 1.49 trillion rubles), marking an 8.1% increase from the previous year. Furthermore, the U.S. gaming industry has demonstrated financial growth for ten consecutive quarters.
The first half of 2023 has been identified by the AGA as the strongest six-month period for the commercial gaming industry. During this time, the market generated $32.781 billion (over 3 trillion rubles) in revenue, an 11.9% increase compared to the same period in 2022.
The AGA notes that three-quarters of the revenue still comes from land-based gaming establishments. However, the iGaming sector has shown remarkable growth, surging by 43.1% year-on-year to reach $3.68 billion (340.4 billion rubles). In terms of sports betting, combined revenue from both offline and online sources hit a record $2.3 billion (212.8 billion rubles) in the second quarter of 2023, reflecting a 50% increase from the previous year.
Miller emphasized, "These results are clear evidence that our recovery from the pandemic was not a fluke. The gaming sector continues to thrive, and when we succeed, our communities thrive as well."
To maintain this positive momentum for the U.S. gaming industry, Miller highlighted the importance of combating the illegal market and promoting responsible gaming. He also stressed the need to create a business environment that allows "the innovative industry to offer world-class entertainment for adults across America."
In related news, it is projected that by 2028, gaming revenues in the Philippines could double due to an influx of tourists.
