The first major jackpot has been won in the gambling zone of "Krasnaya Polyana."
The identity of the lucky winner has not been disclosed, nor has the specific casino where the event took place been revealed. It is known that the winner, who traveled to Sochi from another region, visited a casino for only the second time in his life on August 10, and walked away with 4,026,599 rubles. The newly minted millionaire has yet to decide how to spend his substantial winnings.
The administration of the gambling zone announced the introduction of mega jackpots in July 2019. The gaming machines at the Sochi and Boomerang casinos are linked in a unified network, with two super prizes set at 5 million and 20 million rubles.
Dmitry Anfinogenov, the development director of Krasnaya Polyana, explained that this initiative aims to promote the resort and enhance the competitiveness of its casinos against leading global venues.
Gambling has been banned in Russia since 2009, but land-based gaming establishments are officially operating in four regions: Altai, Krasnodar, Primorsky Krai, and Kaliningrad. Plans are underway to open another gambling zone in Crimea in the near future.
