Dmitry Afinegenov, the director of the Krasnaya Polyana gaming zone, has announced the postponement of the World Poker Summit to next year. The decision comes in response to the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in Asia and Europe. Organizers have confirmed that the event will now take place in May 2021.
“The WPS is being moved to 2021 primarily for the safety of our guests. Secondly, it reflects the recognition of the Krasnaya Polyana gaming zone by the global gaming community. Since we announced the summit just a month ago, we have received dozens of applications from companies around the world,” Afinegenov stated.
The event is now scheduled for May 19-31, 2021. Organizers emphasized that this postponement will not only enhance safety for attendees but also facilitate the entry of foreign visitors. Representatives from the gaming zone noted that starting in January 2021, Russia will introduce a one-time visa for foreigners, expected to be valid for short stays of up to 16 days.
The World Poker Summit is a major poker festival that was originally set to take place from May 17 to 30 in the Krasnaya Polyana gaming zone. During the announcement, organizers highlighted a record prize pool for the tournament, amounting to 250 million rubles.
