The Hard Rock Casino in Rockford is set to open by the end of August 2024, with plans to hire 400 employees by that time. The total workforce at the establishment is expected to reach 750, with 350 candidates already hired. Hard Rock has announced a series of summer recruitment events and training workshops for staff scheduled for early next year.
Casino President Geno Iafrate emphasized the importance of community engagement, stating, "This is hard work. It's never too early to start reaching out to the community and organizations that we believe will provide invaluable assistance in filling our vacancies with the right people. These community networking events allow us to begin discussions ahead of time. So, I hope that by summer, we will have more than 400 people, and we won't be scrambling to find staff at the last minute."
All announcements regarding management positions are expected to be posted in March, with supervisor information available in April. Job seekers can learn about entry-level vacancies in May, and direct hiring events are planned for the first two months of summer.
As for management roles, some will be filled by current employees at the temporary Hard Rock Casino. Managers at the gaming establishment will earn up to $70,000 per year, while supervisors will make no less than $50,000.
The new casino will offer a wide range of job opportunities, including positions in operations, transportation, retail, warehousing, and more. There is also a demand for security personnel, drivers, cooks, waitstaff, dealers, and cashiers. For positions that do not involve tips, the hourly wage will be at least $18, while those that do include tips will pay between $10 and $16 per hour.
Notably, the executive director of Macau has projected a gross gaming revenue of 180 billion patacas for 2023.
