The iconic Mirage casino in Las Vegas will cease operations on July 17, paving the way for the construction of a new Hard Rock property. However, before that happens, the Mirage will host the Mirage Progressive Finale Cash Giveaway from July 9 to 16, 2024, featuring a total prize pool of $1.6 million (approximately 140.7 million rubles).
This amount is derived from unclaimed progressive jackpots from slot machines and table games. According to Nevada state law, such prizes are considered liabilities to customers, meaning all remaining funds must be distributed before the casino closes.
In the slot machine category, the total prize pool will be $1.2 million (about 105.5 million rubles). From July 9 to 11, the casino will award $200,000 (17.6 million rubles) daily to Unity cardholders, part of Hard Rock's global loyalty program. On July 12 and 13, the prize pool will increase to $250,000 (nearly 22 million rubles), and on July 16, a guaranteed prize of $100,000 (8.8 million rubles) will be up for grabs.
Additionally, Unity cardholders will have the chance to compete for rewards totaling $400,000 (35.2 million rubles) while playing table games on July 12 and 13. This promotion includes unlimited Hold'em, blackjack, baccarat, and several other games.
The Mirage hotel and casino opened its doors in 1989 and marked the beginning of the mega-resort construction boom in Las Vegas, a trend that continues today. The new Hard Rock property is expected to open on the site of the iconic venue in 2027.
In 2022, the Mirage made history as the first Las Vegas gaming property operated by Native Americans. Hard Rock International, owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, acquired the hotel and casino from MGM Resorts for approximately $1.1 billion (96.7 billion rubles).
In related news, Hard Rock has provided updates on the construction of its permanent hotel and casino in Bristol.
