The Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort in South Korea celebrates its grand opening
The resort is operated by the American company Mohegan Gaming. Currently, guests can enjoy 1,275 hotel rooms and a range of non-gaming amenities, including the Inspire Arena, South Korea's first multi-purpose indoor venue, which has a total capacity of 15,000 seats.
The planned casino, which will cater exclusively to foreign visitors, has yet to open. Nevertheless, the resort's management is optimistic about attracting international guests with upcoming events at the Inspire Arena, including K-pop concerts and the 2023 Melon Music Awards (MMA), set to take place on December 2.
Chen Si, president of Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort, stated that the resort aims to draw visitors from China and Japan while awaiting its casino operating license. Previously, he indicated that gaming operations are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2024. Currently, according to Si, "the building features a range of non-casino amenities." He highlighted the hotel towers, conference center, and arena as the cornerstones of the project's initial phase. "The resort is primarily focused on attracting Korean visitors," Si added.
In promoting its inaugural concerts, Inspire also hopes to create a cluster effect with the neighboring Paradise City casino resort. Si anticipates that visitors from Paradise will attend the Melon Music Awards 2023 this weekend.
The Inspire Entertainment Resort is Mohegan Gaming's first property in Asia, with capital expenditures already reaching $1.55 billion (approximately 137.3 billion rubles), a figure that has been fully utilized.
Currently, the Inspire resort employs 1,113 people, and the president noted that the workforce is expected to grow to 3,000 once the property is fully operational.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the new cruise ship Sun Princess will feature the largest casino from Princess Cruises.
