Caesars Entertainment has officially opened the Horseshoe Casino, marking a significant milestone in the region. The new facility is located in a building that replaces the former Isle of Capri Hotel Lake Charles, which closed two years ago due to the pandemic and damage from Hurricane Laura.
Spanning 60,000 square feet in southwestern Louisiana, the Horseshoe Casino features a variety of amenities, including restaurants, a hotel, and a gaming area. The casino boasts approximately 1,000 slot machines and table games, a WSOP poker room, a Caesars sportsbook, and 253 hotel rooms. A Gordon Ramsay Steak restaurant is set to open in mid-2023.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Monday at 11:30 AM, where betting legend Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale made headlines by placing a $1 million wager on the Houston Cougars to win the NCAA basketball championship.
According to 12NewsNow, attendees included players from Texas, Louisiana, and beyond. The resort is now fully operational, with the hotel, restaurants, and casino all open to the public. Caesars Entertainment has announced plans to introduce even more entertainment options in the near future.
Anthony Carano, President and Chief Operating Officer of Caesars Entertainment, expressed pride in the team's efforts, stating, "When the Isle of Capri closed in 2020, we did not anticipate that the property would remain idle for so long. We are incredibly proud of our team and all the hard work they have put into this beautiful building. We look forward to welcoming our partners and the community to celebrate this occasion and introduce them to Horseshoe Lake Charles."
Jeff Favre, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Horseshoe Lake Charles, added, "The support from the Lake Charles community has been tremendous, and we can't wait for our guests to return and experience this brand-new resort. After being closed for over two years, reopening as Horseshoe Casino is the cherry on top of what has been a remarkable celebration."
In related news, PlayStar has gained access to the Indiana market through a partnership with Caesars Entertainment.
