The Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has officially joined the Destination by Hyatt brand, becoming the largest property in Hyatt's global portfolio in terms of room count. This milestone follows the completion of a $340 million renovation aimed at restoring the hotel as a premier leisure destination in Las Vegas. This move also marks the launch of the first Destination by Hyatt casino resort in Nevada.
Key updates include the opening of six restaurants in the Canteen food hall and a renovation of approximately 20,500 square feet of meeting and conference space. Additionally, the property now features four new pools, and the casino has added 500 slot machines and 30 table games.
The hotel has also introduced the Lapa Lounge, inspired by the nightlife of the Lapa district in Rio de Janeiro, along with Luckley Tavern & Grill, a casual dining restaurant offering an all-American menu.
The second phase of renovations will focus on the Masquerade tower and additional public areas, with the goal of providing "high-end guest experiences" throughout the property.
Patrick Miller, President and CEO of Rio Hotel & Casino, stated, "We have not only updated the resort's design but also proudly honor its legacy as the essence of Las Vegas. The renovations provide World of Hyatt members and travelers from around the globe even more opportunities to immerse themselves in the fun and vibrant atmosphere of our hotel."
Meanwhile, MGM and Marriott are set to open the first W Hotels property on the Las Vegas Strip.
