The Romanian Lottery is conducting a market study aimed at diversifying its offerings as part of its corporate development strategy. A primary focus is the potential introduction of online casino gaming, which would include slot machines and table games such as roulette, poker, blackjack, bingo, keno, baccarat, and more.
Currently, an international public statement regarding this initiative has been published on The Romanian Lottery's website and has also been sent to key international associations, including The European Lotteries and various specialized international publications.
Online casino gaming has seen significant growth in the Romanian market, particularly over the past two years, in light of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
In a press release, the organization stated: "This type of gambling targets a specific segment of users that is not currently served by The Romanian Lottery's existing product library. Expanding our portfolio, including the introduction of online gambling, presents an opportunity for growth and maximization of revenue. The Romanian Lottery has chosen this path to contribute to the primary goal of the state lottery, which is to provide financial support for public national interests and objectives."
According to the aforementioned international announcement, gaming operators interested in partnering with The Romanian Lottery for the placement of online gambling offerings must submit their partnership proposals by February 18, 2022. Candidates will be selected based on the company's internal guidelines, and the list of winners will be published on The Romanian Lottery's official website.
It is worth noting that Play’n GO has recently signed a contract to supply gaming software to the Nederlandse Loterij.
