The Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) has launched a nationwide campaign urging people to play only on licensed platforms. This initiative from the regulatory body emphasizes the importance of choosing officially registered operators and is titled "Games Need Rules."
The new SGA campaign features three short films that have been released on social media and the organization's website. Swedish television host Anders Lundin serves as the narrator for each film, reiterating the campaign's main slogan—"Games Need Rules"—at the end of each video.
The scripts of the videos address cheating in popular board games, which can only occur on illegal sites. The films humorously convey the message about the importance of selecting the right platform, whether online or in-person.
In a statement accompanying the videos, the SGA noted, "While cheating in board games may not seem like a serious offense, it is crucial that gambling companies adhere to regulations when you are wagering your own money. The Swedish Gambling Authority only oversees those with a national license."
These three films are linked by a common message to a longer video available on the regulator's website, where Anders Lundin appears in person. This video aims to provide additional information about the benefits of choosing a licensed gaming company.
Will these measures help attract players to licensed sites?
Yvonne Heydenberg, SGA's public relations manager, commented, "Our goal is to inform the public that they have a choice between companies with a Swedish license and those without. Citizens have the right to know all the advantages of selecting a licensed platform."
The announcement of the campaign comes shortly after the SGA revealed a complete overhaul and redesign of its website for self-excluded players.
It is worth noting that EGT opted out of participating in ICE London 2022.
