Gaming content providers Wazdan and Blueprint Gaming have received approval to operate in the Swedish market from the local regulatory authority, Spelinspektionen. The products from these studios are highly popular in the country.
It is important to note that a B2B license issued by the Swedish Gambling Authority is required under new regulations that came into effect on July 1, 2023. This move aims to ensure that organizations distributing content in Sweden operate within a regulated market.
Wazdan's CEO, Michal Imiolek, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We are very pleased to receive our B2B supplier license from the Swedish Gambling Authority and thank them for the swift and smooth process. This also serves as a testament to our team's consistent hard work in meeting regulatory requirements. The Scandinavian market is important to us, and we have been an active supplier in this region for some time, so we are excited about the opportunity to continue entertaining Swedish players for many years to come."
Blueprint Gaming's Chief Operating Officer, Thomas O'Halleran, added, "Sweden is a key territory for Blueprint. Therefore, we are naturally pleased to reaffirm our ongoing commitment to delivering games to this region. This new approval allows us to continue our growth and develop content that will resonate with Swedish players and keep them coming back."
The Swedish Gambling Authority is the regulatory body responsible for ensuring the safety and legality of the gambling market. Spelinspektionen is accountable to the Ministry of Finance, and its board members are appointed by the government.
Previously, the Swedish regulator has issued licenses to several other providers, including SkillOnNet, Yggdrasil, Relax Gaming, and SYNOT Games.
Meanwhile, a recent survey by Survation revealed that a majority of Britons expect significant reforms in the gambling sector.
