Ukraine's gambling regulator, the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL), has officially announced the issuance of permits to two Kyiv hotels, allowing them to establish slot machine halls on their premises. The companies involved are LLC "LD-Perspektiva" and LLC "Hotel Property." All supporting documentation has been published on the Commission's official website.
According to the agency's resolution, "LD-Perspektiva" is authorized to set up a slot machine hall or a sports betting point in a 313 square meter basement area of the three-star "Rus" hotel, in compliance with Ukraine's current gambling legislation. Similarly, "Hotel Property" plans to establish a betting office or a gaming machine area on the ground floor and basement of the "Lybid" hotel.
It is important to note that KRAIL was compelled to deny "Hotel Management" a permit to open a land-based gambling establishment in the five-star InterContinental hotel. The regulator stated that the refusal was due to discrepancies in the technical passport of the premises, which did not meet the established requirements.
Earlier, the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries in Ukraine made history by issuing the first online casino license in the legal gambling market. The license was granted to LLC "SpaceX" (which owns the "Cosmolot" brand), and the company will pay 23.4 million hryvnias for this permit. The State Treasury has confirmed that the corresponding payment for the license has already been received.
However, the transitional provisions of the current gambling legislation stipulate a fee of 39 million hryvnias (equivalent to 6,500 minimum wages) for a five-year online casino license. No official comments have been provided to clarify this situation.
In summary, Ukraine is set to welcome two new online casinos.
