Wynn Resorts confirmed its plans to build a casino hotel in the UAE last year, and now the project may expand in scope as the operator aims to create a Las Vegas-style atmosphere for its future resort on Al Marjan Island. According to documents, Wynn Resorts has already registered the trademarks "Arabian Strip" and "Marjan Strip," names that echo the famous Las Vegas Strip.
The company is moving forward with a $2 billion (approximately 171.5 billion rubles) project on the artificial island, with local developer RAK Hospitality Holding LLC overseeing construction. The resort is expected to open by the end of 2026 and will feature a wide range of amenities, including dining establishments, conference rooms, event spaces, residential areas, and more.
Wynn's CEO Craig Billings has confirmed that the company is advancing plans to introduce gambling in the United Arab Emirates, particularly at its casino resort. Billings stated that new renderings and plans will be unveiled in the coming months.
However, mere intentions may not be enough to bring Las Vegas-style gaming to the UAE, a country known for its opposition to casino entertainment. It remains uncertain whether the Emirates will give the green light for such developments.
It's important to note that Wynn Resorts' references to the Las Vegas Strip do not imply that the similarities will be substantial. The iconic boulevard currently hosts over 30 establishments, while the Marjan Strip will initially feature only Wynn's casino. Nevertheless, the company has contracted the same architectural firm responsible for the Palazzo Las Vegas, Venetian Macau, and Atlantis Paradise Island, HKS Architects, underscoring the operator's serious intentions.
